Well I didn’t mean to leave you and i don’t know why i did. 

Just what it was that bought me here, was it something that is said? 

I couldn’t really keep you, and i knew i wouldn’t try. 

Better first to leave you dear than to watch our lovin’ die.


But I’m a long way from home, and i got lovin’ on my mind. 

Don’t think that i don’t miss you cuz i do. 

And if you’re all alone please think of me sometime, 

Cuz all i really wanted was just you.


Faded blue jeans, silken gown, i wouldn’t really care. 

If i could see my true loves eyes run my fingers through her hair. 

With a smile and a laugh I’m sure I’d see the dragon in her eyes. 

That’s why i had to leave you dear, i knew you had to fly.


But I’m a long way from home, and i got lovin’ on my mind. 

Don’t think that i don’t miss you cuz i do.

Some say that I’m a crazy fool for ever having left.

But i just can’t relate to them that you’re not like the rest. 

And yes they all may laugh at me for giving you my heart. 

But it’s all I have to give to you dear, from the very start.

A dragon soars to touch the sun, and i smile cuz i know.

Two dragons with no earthbound love at last can roam the skies.
